treatment strategy for guided tissue regeneration in various class ii furcation defect: case series
نویسندگان
چکیده
periodontal regeneration is a main aspect in the treatment of teeth affected by periodontitis. periodontal regeneration in furcation areas is quite challenging, especially when it is in interproximal region. there are several techniques used alone or in combination considered to achieve periodontal regeneration, including the bone grafts or substitutes, guided tissue regeneration (gtr), root surface modification, and biological mediators. many factors may account for variability in response to regenerative therapy in class ii furcation. this case series describes the management of class ii furcation defect in a mesial interproximal region of a maxillary tooth and other with a buccal class ii furcation of mandibular tooth, with the help of surgical intervention including the gtr membrane and bone graft materials. this combined treatment resulted in healthy periodontium with a radiographic evidence of alveolar bone gain in both cases. this case series demonstrates that proper diagnosis, followed by removal of etiological factors and utilizing the combined treatment modalities will restore health and function of the tooth with the severe attachment loss. key words: class ii furcation, guided tissue regeneration, maxillary mesial furcation

BACKGROUND Many clinical studies have demonstrated that guided tissue regeneration (GTR) is a successful treatment modality of periodontal reconstructive surgery and it has become an accepted procedure in most periodontal practices. متن کاملTreatment strategy for guided tissue regeneration in combined endodontic-periodontal lesions: case report and review.
INTRODUCTION Endodontic-periodontal combined lesion is a clinical dilemma because making a differential diagnosis and deciding a prognosis are difficult. METHODS Twenty-six cases from 14 articles involving the successful management of endodontic-periodontal lesions with concurrent regenerative procedures were reviewed. This article also presents successful treatment of an endodontic-periodont...
متن کاملRegeneration of class II furcation defects: determinants of increased success.
One of the most important indications for guided tissue regeneration (GTR) treatment is class II furcation lesion. However, periodontal regeneration of this type of defect, although possible, is not considered totally predictable, especially in terms of complete bone fill. Many factors may account for variability in the response to regenerative therapy in class II furcation. The purpose of this...
متن کاملAutogenous bone graft combined with buccal fat pad as barrier in treatment of Class II furcation defect: a case report.
The treatment of furcation defects is a complex and difficult task that may compromise the success of periodontal therapy. Here we report a new clinical treatment of a Class II furcation defect using an autogenous bone graft associated with a buccal fat pad (BFP) used as a membrane. The surgical treatment was performed following initial periodontal therapy. Post-operative follow-up appointments...
